Movie Review: Talvar

No spoilers. I don't intend to share the story.

Recommendation
Serious Cinema. If you like bold, realistic and thought provoking cinema - Go for it.

Director: Meghna Gulzar
Writer: Vishal Bharadwaj
Actors: Irrfan Khan, Konkana Sen Sharma, Neeraj Kabi

What to Expect?
Meghna Gulzar has movies like Filhaal and Dus Kahaniyaan to her credit. For Talvar she partners with Vishal Bharadwaj who has co-produced and written the story.

If you have seen the promos and followed the news you would know this movie is based on the Noida Double Murder or double homicide.

Does it Deliver?
Talvar hits you where it hurts the most, that is, between your legs. It is a brutal depiction of how the police, media and judiciary and law can fall apart if the people in these departments do not perform their duties rightly.

It is a tight script and keeps you glued on to the screen to wonder what is the truth and the story unfolds. Screenplay is first rate and direction is top rate. Irrfan Khan is in supreme form and he eases in the role of CDI officer to crack the case. Konkana Sen Sharma and Neeraj Kabi play their part well. In fact this is Neeraj Kabi's second big role and equally great performance after Detective Byomkesh Bakshi.

Loose Ends?
There are hardly any loose ends, there is no scope for song and dance. From the first frame till the last frame it is very cohesively integrated.

Lessons that we learn from Talvar:
We need to watch out for the people who come to our homes in our presence and in our absence. Domestic help, servants, service providers etc. We cannot and should not trust anyone or take anyone for granted.

Being Alcoholic brings lot of difficulties and complexities in our lives and adversely impacts the lives of our near and dear ones.

We need to watch out for people who may back stab us. We also need to be careful with people who have their own personal agenda for growth. Those who are ready to do anything and everything for the sake of growth.

  1. Talwar a good movie direction flow less but the end is intriguing, since the producer director do not wanted to take side, but ultimately court decides on the evidences & facts presented, similarly a good movie leads to the rational conclusion, which is lacking, presentation of both sides of case is ok but ultimately it has to have final decision as to who did it.
