Movie Review - Ugly

Summary -

Make no mistake, Ugly is really Ugly. It is not for the faint hearted.

What To Expect?

Ugly is written and directed by Anurag Kashyap - Writer of movies like Shool, Satya, Kaun and the director of recent Hits like Dev D, Gangs of Wasseypur 1, Gangs of Wasseypur 2.

So if you have seen any of his earlier movies and if you have seen the trailer of Ugly you would have a fair idea of what to expect from the movie - A Dark Thriller.

Does it Meet the Expectation?

Yes, it does meet the expectation. Anurag has hit bulls eye with his writing and direction. Each frame has his traditional stamp on it. Brilliant work.

What Works Well?

Performances - Excellent performances by all the actors. Special mention for the lead characters Ronit Roy, Tejaswini Kolhapure and Rahul Bhat. Each one of them gels with the character naturally.

Story, Script and Execution - Excellent in all respects. This tale of corruption and cheating in normal life is gripping, engaging and disturbing.

What Does Not Work Well?

Climax - This is not for the faint hearted, specifically the last scene. It is very disturbing and stays with you for some time. They could have made it mild and still pass the message with impact. Make no mistake Ugly is really Ugly. You may want to stay away from the movie if you cannot digest disturbing stuff.
