Movie Review - Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Background

Kabir Khan made his directorial debut with "Kabul Express", but he is known for his chart-buster super hits like "New York" and "Ek Tha Tiger". Bajrangi Bhaijaan is his latest outing as a director, this is also Salman Khan's first film as a producer.

What To Expect?

If you have seen the promo then it is pretty evident that this is a India Pakistan movie, specifically about an Indian taking a Pakistani girl child back home.Well, we have seen so many India Pakistan films like, Veer Jaara, Refugee and superhit like Gadar - Ek Prem Katha. So whats new in Bajrangi Bhaijaan? Lets find out.

Does it work?

Unlike previous India Pakistan movies, this is not an action movie. This is an emotional roller coaster which will sweep you off your feet. It works exceptionally well as it touches several human emotions as the story unfolds. Salman Khan fans are in for a surprise treat.

Production Value, Performances

Production Value is excellent. It is shot in Kashmir, Punjab and other locations within India. Camera work is superb as it captures breathtaking views of Kashmir. Salman delivers a nice performance where he doesn't need to do much action. Kareena is good in her brief role. Nawazuddin Siddiqui steals the show in the second half with his comic timing. Harshaali Malhotra is loveable and acts her part with finesse.

What Does Not Work

There are hardly any loopholes. Kabir Khan has weaved a tale of emotions with such perfection that there is hardly any scope for improvement. At couple of occasions you may feel that the plot is made too convenient for the protagonist. But the director mixes Gandhigiri with Gadar - Ek Prem Katha and lets the emotions flow in such a way that you can't escape from getting carried away with the emotion.
