Movie Review: Detective Byomkesh Bakshi

Recommendation
Indian Cinema finds it Sherlock and Moriarty. Go for it !

What to Expect?
Director Dibakar Banerjee has a lot to his credit already:
Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006)
Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008)
Love Sex aur Dhokha (2010)
Shanghai (2012)
Bombay Talkies (2013)

So the expectations are high. The Promo promise a lot but does the content delivers? Lets find out.

Does it Deliver?
This tale of Bakshi Babu will leave you in Awe. This is an attention to detail movie, if you don't pay attention there are chances that you will miss/ not understand what exactly happened towards the climax.

Set in the backdrop of second world war, the story unfolds as an ordinary student becomes a classy detective and solves his first case. Watch out for Sushant Singh Rajput, he effortlessly plays the Satyanveshi to perfection. Anand Tiwari and Neeraj Kabi play their part well. Actually, Neeraj is a surprise package of the movie.

Production Value
Excellent art work done to create sets of the Calcutta of 1940s. Mostly shot in the studios with large sets to create historic effect. No songs but it has thrilling background score to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Direction
Dibakar Banerjee is in supreme form. He creates India's first detective brand that will go on for years to follow. Just like James Bond:My name is Bond, James Bond. Our Bakshi Babu introduces as Bakshi, Byomkesh Bakshi.

The director makes sure he leaves some threads open to come back with Detective Byomkesh Bakshi - Part II with the ending notes: "Meri Dosti Too Nahi Sambhal Paye Bakshi Babu, Meri Dushami kaise Sambhalogey?"

Loose Ends?
There are a few, but lets not talk about them coz overall it works BIG time.
