Movie Review: Bajirao Mastani

No spoilers. There is no intent to share the story. This is just an opinion.

Director: Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Actors: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Milind Soman, Tanvi Azmi

What to Expect?
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has superhit movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Ramleela to his credit. He is a great storyteller and with each movie he depicts one culture at the backdrop in grand style.
For example,
Hum Dil Chuke Sanam - Gujrat
Ramleela - Rajasthan
Devdas - Bengal
Khamoshi, Black - Goa
With Bajirao Mastani he brings the epic love story of Maratha  ruler Peshva Bajirao and Mastani alive on the silver screen.

Does it Deliver?

Of-course it does. It has glory and grandeur. Tremendous performances, great direction, apt screenplay, melodious soundtrack and lavish presentation. Bhansali and his team have bought the era of Maratha rule alive on screen.

Loose Ends?

There are hardly any loose ends, however on more than one occasion Bhansali takes cinematic liberty to make the historic characters dance and sing. This may not seem apt to certain section of audiences. Especially the malhari song on Ranveer Singh can be done away with.

Recommendation
If you are one of those who intend to carry a history book to the cinema hall then this movie is not for you. You may rather want to spend your money on having a Sujata Mastani or Kavrey Mastani.

Otherwise, watch it for its larger than life cinematic experience and of course the opulent drama that cements Bhansali as the master love-storyteller.
